If you read the about me page, you’ll know that I setup a gym in my home because traveling to a gym to exercise in-front of others was inconvenient, strange, costly and made me feel a little bad about myself. I’m defiantly not the fittest person in the world and working out surrounded by fit people isn’t my idea of a good time.

This week I’m traveling for work. I’ll be in Chicago all week and my contractor is finishing my basement so my home gym is closed right now. Does that mean I get to skip a week and relax? Hello no! Effort is important but consistency is key to see real change. The hotel I’m staying at doesn’t have all the equipment I like or is required for my 5×5 program, but it definitely has enough for me to get a workout.

Yesterday I did interval jog/fast-walking for 30 minutes and did several dumbbell exercises. Interval jogging is when I job for 1 minute, then do a fast-walk for a minute. I keep alternating for 20 minutes until I kick it up to 1.5 minutes of jogging followed up by 30 seconds of fast-walking. After 10 minutes of that, I’ve finished my 30-minute session.

It was a good sweat session and I’m going back tonight to do it all over again. The point of this post is to let you all know that there shouldn’t be any reason you can’t keep going. I lost access to my gym, but I found another temporarily. If the hotel didn’t have one, I would have ran outside or looked for a day pass at a gym nearby. Just keep at it! It’s important to be consistent. Consistency will lead to real change.

Keep at it everyone! And if you’re curious about the gym I used in the hotel, I included a photo for you.
